A5 size newspaper envelopes
Making envelopes is so easy and since we make most of our greeting cards it's only fitting that we make the envelopes to go with them. Problem is large paper is needed. Newspaper does just the trick, especially for children's cards.
Most of our cards, like these and these, and these, are A4 (close to US letter size) folded in half so we need A5 envelopes.
When we choose a piece of newspaper to use we try and find content or images pertinent to the recipient. Here we had a football lover and an animal lover.
Simply take a pre-made envelope and carefully open it all the way out flat, gently unsealing the glued parts.
Using a bright colour, trace around the flattened envelope on to your piece of newspaper and be sure the image you want is positioned underneath the template.
Cut the shape out of the newspaper, score it in the same places the template envelope is scored, then seal the flaps with a glue stick.
Lastly, add a label to the front to right the recipient's name on it.
Easy-peasy, lemon squeazy.
Obviously any envelope shape or size and any type of paper will work for making envelopes, keep a stash of your favourite types and sizes before chucking them in the recycling bin to create a collection of templates.
