Sunny is a little anytime bunny, not just for Easter. She's made from an easy, one piece pattern (only the ears are separate.) I made this bunny from a cashmere blend sweater that didn't felt very much, just enough to have a little body to it and make it very soft.
Felting jumpers is easy, just go here for a quick explanation if you've never tried it. Also check out this page on my other blog for many more tutorials and patterns including another fun felted bunny project.
This bunny could be made out of cotton or linen fabric instead but felt is nice because you can make needle felted tails like Sunny's (her heart is also needle felted.) Sunny looks a bit like she's being frisked there ;)

To make Sunny do this:
- Cut out two body pieces, and two or four ears (I cut one set of ears from the same body wool and another set of ears from printed cotton and stitched them together)
- Give your bunny a face
- Put the body pieces together, right sides facing, with the ears sandwiched inside pointing towards the tummy, flat edges of the ears at the top of the head
- Stitch around the bunny leaving a gap for stuffing and being sure to stitch in the ears as you go
- Stuff her then ladder stitch up the gap
I added some lentils to her feet and to her tummy to give the bunny a little weight. I used lentils because that's what I had on hand. I wrapped them in a little filler first.
If you plan on making Sunny, I'd love to know who your bunny will be for. Yourself, your child, grandchild, the postman?
Happy Spring to you all!
NOTE: If you change Sunny's ears to small pointy ones you can turn her in to a kitty or make them smaller and rounded and create a teddy like these.
